Τα shortlists διάφορων κατηγοριών στα βραβεία Oscar του 2024 ανακοίνωσε η Ακαδημία και σε αυτήν για το Best Original Song βλέπουμε καλλιτέχνες όπως η Dua Lipa και η Billie Eilish για τα κομμάτια τους στην ταινία Barbie, αλλά και την Olivia Rodrigo με το “Can’t Catch Me Now”, τη Sharon Van Etten με το “Quiet Eyes”, τον Jarvis Cocker για το “Dear Alien (Who Art in Heaven)” του Asteroid City και πολλούς ακόμη.
Ως προς τους συνθέτες στην κατηγορία Best Original Score, το shortlist περιλαμβάνει τους Mica Levi, Mark Ronson, Ludwig Göransson, Joe Hisaishi, John Williams, τον εκλιπόντα Robbie Robertson και τον Daniel Pemberton, μεταξύ άλλων. Οι επίσημες υποψηφιότητες θα ανακοινωθούν στις 23 Ιανουαρίου.
Το 2023 νικητής στην κατηγορία Best Original Score ήταν ο Volker Bertelmann (aka Hauschka) για τη δουλειά του στην ταινία All Quiet on the Western Front. Το Oscar στην κατηγορία Best Original Song πήγε στους δημιουργούς του “Naatu Naatu”, M.M. Keeravani και Chandrabose, που ήταν υποψήφιοι ανάμεσα σε καλλιτέχνες όπως η Lady Gaga, η Rihanna και ο David Byrne.
